Spring term round-up

In Mid Devon we have covered gymnastics, dance and basketball in PE. In the summer term we will be doing cricket tennis athletics and rounders.

At Topsham we have done hockey and football this term whilst also running fun fit programmes and targeting year 5&6 girls participation.

At gatehouse we have done gymnastics and football. We have also enjoyed success in Inter school tournaments in football and cross country.

At Pilton Infants we have focused on football this term with all ks1 children. They have been working on their control of the ball and learning to pass using different parts of their foot. We finished the term with mini football games which the kids loved. We focused on all the skills learnt in previous weeks and sportsmanship. Making sure the children supported their team mates and always went up to their opponents to shake hands at the end of games.

At Our Lady’s this term we have been doing volleyball in P.E. KS2 children took part in volleyball matches during their lesson where they were learning the correct rotations that are used within the game. Also been running Sherborne developmental movement programmes for some KS1 and KS2 children which runs twice a week.

This term at St Joseph’s Primary School (Newton Abbot) we have taught both Basketball & Team Building exercises.

Basketball was taught over 6 lessons and incorporated many skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting and defending. Key Stage 2 adapted exceptionally to this as they found it easy to compare Basketball with some of the Netball skills we taught during the Winter term.

Team Building exercises allow the pupils to work as a team whilst competing competitively in races and time trials. Games such as Dodgeball, Reaction ball and Bench ball were just a couple of the activities we introduced this half term.

We are really impressed with all the effort that the children have showed and are really looking forward to getting back into school after Easter.
